The Apple Pie

It was a cold (well, what’s cold in Lanzarote huh) January, so we came up with this heartwarming pie recipe.

INGREDIENTS

  • One medium apple

  • 4 to 5 tbsp of Pastry Cream (you'll find that recipe down the page!)

  • 200 gr of Butter Dough, should be enough for a 20 cm circle (same deal, recipe is below!)

  • 1 tsp of cinnamon

PREPARATION

Step 1. Get the oven warm

Preheat your oven to 220°C conventional or 200°C fan.

Step 2. Roll your heart out

Dust your surface with flour and roll out your Butter Dough. You're aiming for a circle of about 20 cm, and it should be thin, about 2–3 mm thick. Drape this circle into a silicone mould (about 15 cm). Make sure those edges are high enough—a good edge means no leaks!

Step 3. The creamy base

Add the Pastry Cream to the base of the dough.

Step 4. Slice the apple

Time for the star! Cut the apple into quarters, remove the core, and then slice finely. If you have a core cutter, use it first, then cut into four sections, then slice.

Step 5. A flower of apples

Drape the slices in a beautiful flower shape over the pastry cream. Sprinkle generously with the cinnamon (because who doesn't love cinnamon?) and bake in the oven for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are golden. Patience, it's almost done!
